First Kitbash

Trying my hand at kitbashing - a model railroading term for taking a kit or kits and "bashing" them together in such a way as to create something different than the original kit.

In this case, I'm taking two DPM Hilltowne Hotel kits and creating one larger hotel.

This involved cutting off the bottom storefronts from one set of parts, and the top cornices from the other set. A pretty simple kitbash when you get down to it.

Gluing the two sections together, top and bottom

Two sides complete!

Now to get them square

Looking good!

Some A/C Units in-process

First coat of paint

Comparison to Wilhelm Mercantile, a slightly larger kit than the original Hilltowne Hotel.

Billboard

Something another modeler created. I like the model, but not the company it represents:

Latest projects:

May scrape the blue flowers off and replace with something baby-blue?

Right now, I have about a half-dozen structures in various states of construction. It's my thought that by working on one while others are drying, I can setup a kind of assembly line by where I'm constantly productive.
